Well, this certainly falls into the "not a bakery" category, but if you're getting homemade desserts, why not make a Cake Tour of it? It's as easy as that! :P New Glasgow Lobster Suppers is a seasonal restaurant serving, yes, lobster suppers. You purchase your meal in advance, get your lobster or meat dish and then everything else is included, a sort of a sit-down take on an all-you-can-eat buffet. And included in this meal are the homemade desserts, a selection of five or six classic pies and cakes. I mean, if you can have all, why not try as much as possible?

 First up was the strawberry shortcake. The shortcake itself lacked any real flavour (though I have encountered this elsewhere, the last time, there was the delicate hint of buttermilk which added some punch), but it soaked up the strawberries nicely -- and there were a lot -- so it was a good "sundae" without being a sundae, i.e. there was no ice cream. It felt very light eating it; you could almost call it healthy. ;)

The blueberry pie was pretty good with its thick filling and flaky, golden brown crust, but the apple pie was a bit disappointing. I always find that apple pie is the difficult one to get right; more specifically, the apple filling. Some apple varieties are simply not at all suited to apple pie filling and here, the filling was a little too runny, the apples not soft and flavourful enough. The one real miss of the bunch.
